Yeast Cells (CP0065)

Description

Yeast Cells in urine are detected during urine sediment microscopy and may indicate fungal infection of the urinary tract, most commonly caused by Candida species. While occasional yeast cells may result from contamination, significant presence suggests candiduria, especially in diabetic patients, catheterized individuals, or immunocompromised patients. Identification of yeast cells is an important part of Routine Urine Examination (R/E) and may require confirmation with urine culture.
