Yeast Cells stool (CP0082)

Description

Yeast Cells in stool are detected during microscopic examination and may indicate fungal overgrowth in the gastrointestinal tract. Small numbers of yeast may be part of normal gut flora; however, increased yeast cells can be associated with antibiotic use, immunocompromised states, diabetes, or gastrointestinal imbalance. Identification of yeast cells is part of Routine Stool Examination (R/E) and may require further evaluation if clinically significant.
