Vancomycin ( BC0151 )

Description

Vancomycin level test is a therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) assay used to measure the concentration of vancomycin antibiotic in the blood to ensure effective treatment while preventing toxicity. Vancomycin is commonly used to treat severe Gram-positive bacterial infections, including MRSA. Monitoring blood levels is essential because high concentrations can cause kidney damage (nephrotoxicity) and hearing loss (ototoxicity), while low levels may lead to treatment failure. This test helps clinicians adjust dosage accurately, especially in critically ill patients, renal impairment cases, and those receiving long-term vancomycin therapy.
