Urinary Protein (Spot) test measures the concentration of protein in a single random urine sample to detect proteinuria. It is an important screening test for kidney disease, diabetic nephropathy, hypertension-related renal damage, glomerulonephritis, and other renal disorders. Increased urinary protein levels indicate possible kidney damage or dysfunction. This test is often used for early detection and monitoring of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and may be interpreted alongside urine creatinine or Albumin/Creatinine ratio (ACR) for better clinical evaluation.
