Triple Phosphate Crystals (CP0064)

Description

Triple Phosphate Crystals, also known as Struvite crystals, are colorless, rectangular “coffin-lid” shaped crystals observed in urine sediment microscopy. They typically form in alkaline urine and are commonly associated with urinary tract infections caused by urease-producing bacteria. The presence of triple phosphate crystals may indicate risk of struvite kidney stones and underlying urinary infection. This parameter is evaluated as part of Routine Urine Examination (R/E).
