Total Protein (Serum) is a blood test used to measure the total amount of protein in the bloodstream, primarily albumin and globulin. It helps evaluate liver function, kidney disorders, nutritional status, chronic inflammation, infections, and certain malignancies. Abnormal levels may indicate dehydration, liver disease, nephrotic syndrome, immune disorders, or plasma cell dyscrasias. Total protein is commonly assessed as part of a Liver Function Test (LFT) panel.
