Total Iron Binding Capacity (TIBC) is a blood test used to measure the blood’s capacity to bind iron with transferrin, the main iron-transport protein. It helps evaluate iron deficiency anemia, iron overload disorders, and nutritional status. TIBC is commonly interpreted along with serum iron and ferritin levels to assess iron metabolism and calculate transferrin saturation.
