Squamous Cells are flat epithelial cells commonly found lining the skin and the outer part of the urinary tract. Their presence in urine is usually due to normal shedding from the urethra or external genital area. A small number of squamous epithelial cells in urine is considered normal, but a high number may indicate contamination of the urine sample during collection. Squamous cells are typically reported during microscopic examination as part of routine urine analysis.
