Squamous Cells (Urine) (CP0055)

Description

Squamous Cells in urine are flat epithelial cells originating from the lower urinary tract or external genital area. They are commonly detected during urine sediment microscopy. A small number of squamous epithelial cells is considered normal; however, increased numbers usually indicate contamination of the urine sample rather than pathology. Proper midstream clean-catch collection helps minimize squamous cell contamination and ensures accurate urinalysis results.
