Sickling Test (HM0096)

Description

Sickling Test is a screening blood test used to detect the presence of abnormal hemoglobin S (HbS), which is associated with sickle cell disease and sickle cell trait. The test identifies red blood cells that assume a sickle shape under low-oxygen conditions. It is commonly used as an initial screening tool, especially in populations with a high prevalence of hemoglobinopathies. Positive results require confirmation with hemoglobin electrophoresis or HPLC.
