SGOT / SGPT Ratio, also known as the AST/ALT Ratio, is a calculated parameter used to assess liver health by comparing Serum Glutamic Oxaloacetic Transaminase (SGOT/AST) to Serum Glutamic Pyruvic Transaminase (SGPT/ALT). This ratio helps differentiate types of liver injury, including alcoholic liver disease, viral hepatitis, fatty liver disease, and cirrhosis. It is commonly evaluated as part of the Liver Function Test (LFT) panel.
