Description

Reticulocyte Production Index (RPI) is a calculated parameter used to evaluate bone marrow response in patients with anemia. It corrects the reticulocyte count based on the patient’s hematocrit and the maturation time of reticulocytes in circulation. RPI helps determine whether the bone marrow is responding appropriately to anemia. It is especially useful in differentiating between hypoproliferative anemia and hemolytic or blood loss anemia.
