Pre-Test Instructions:

Avoid hemolyzed samples, as hemolysis can falsely elevate results.
If evaluating response to anemia therapy, sample should be collected 3–5 days after starting treatment.
Inform the lab if the patient recently received:
Blood transfusion (may reduce reticulocyte count)
Erythropoietin therapy (may increase reticulocyte count)
Ensure proper mixing of EDTA tube to prevent clotting.
