Plasma Renin (Direct) is a blood test used to measure the concentration of renin, an enzyme-hormone produced by the kidneys that plays a key role in blood pressure regulation, sodium balance, and the renin–angiotensin–aldosterone system (RAAS). This test is commonly used in the evaluation of hypertension, suspected primary aldosteronism, secondary hypertension, adrenal disorders, and disorders of fluid and electrolyte balance. Direct renin measurement provides accurate assessment when interpreted with plasma aldosterone levels.
