Platelet Distribution Width (PDW) is a hematological parameter measured as part of the Complete Blood Count (CBC). It reflects the variation in platelet size (platelet anisocytosis) and indicates platelet activation and bone marrow response. Elevated PDW may be associated with inflammatory conditions, thrombocytopenia, cardiovascular diseases, and certain hematological disorders. PDW is interpreted along with platelet count and Mean Platelet Volume (MPV) for accurate clinical assessment.
