Mucus Threads in urine are thin, filamentous strands of mucus observed during urine sediment microscopy. They are produced by the epithelial lining of the urinary tract and may be seen in small amounts in normal individuals. Increased mucus threads may be associated with urinary tract infections (UTIs), inflammation, irritation, or contamination. This parameter is evaluated as part of Routine Urine Examination (R/E).
