Immature Reticulocyte Fraction (IRF) is a hematology parameter that measures the proportion of the youngest, most immature reticulocytes in peripheral blood. It reflects early bone marrow response and is a sensitive indicator of erythropoietic activity. IRF rises earlier than the total reticulocyte count during bone marrow recovery, making it valuable in monitoring anemia treatment, post-chemotherapy recovery, bone marrow transplantation, and erythropoietin therapy.
