A high IPF indicates increased platelet turnover due to peripheral destruction or recovery phase (e.g., immune thrombocytopenia, dengue recovery, post-chemotherapy marrow recovery), whereas a low IPF suggests decreased bone marrow production such as aplastic anemia or marrow suppression.
