Description

Hepatitis B e Antigen (HBeAg) is a blood test used to detect the presence of HBeAg, a viral protein produced during active replication of the Hepatitis B virus. It helps assess infectivity, viral replication activity, and disease progression in patients with Hepatitis B infection. A positive result usually indicates high viral load and increased risk of transmission. The test is commonly performed alongside HBsAg, Anti-HBe, and HBV DNA to monitor chronic Hepatitis B infection.
