Hepatitis B Core Total Antibodies (Anti-HBc Total) is a blood test used to detect total antibodies (IgM and IgG) against the Hepatitis B core antigen (HBcAg). It indicates previous or ongoing exposure to Hepatitis B virus (HBV). This test is essential in differentiating acute, chronic, and resolved Hepatitis B infections and is commonly interpreted alongside HBsAg, Anti-HBs, and Anti-HBc IgM. Anti-HBc Total remains positive for life after exposure and is not produced following vaccination alone.
