Description

Glucose – Post Prandial (PP) is a blood test used to measure blood glucose levels two hours after a meal. It helps evaluate how effectively the body metabolizes glucose and is commonly used in the diagnosis and monitoring of diabetes mellitus. Elevated postprandial glucose levels may indicate impaired glucose tolerance or diabetes and are important in assessing glycemic control alongside fasting glucose and HbA1c.

Pre-Test Instructions:

  • Patient should consume a normal meal
  • Blood sample must be collected exactly 2 hours after the first bite of the meal
  • Avoid smoking or physical exertion during the 2-hour period
  • Inform laboratory if patient is on antidiabetic medication
  • Often performed along with Fasting Blood Glucose
