G6PD – Qualitative is a screening blood test used to detect deficiency of the enzyme Glucose-6-Phosphate Dehydrogenase (G6PD). G6PD deficiency is a hereditary condition that can lead to hemolytic anemia, especially after exposure to certain medications, infections, or foods such as fava beans. This qualitative test identifies whether enzyme activity is normal or deficient and is commonly used for neonatal screening and before prescribing certain drugs.
