Fat Globules in stool are detected during microscopic examination and indicate the presence of excess fat in feces (steatorrhea). Small amounts may be normal; however, increased fat globules suggest fat malabsorption due to pancreatic insufficiency, celiac disease, chronic diarrhea, or other gastrointestinal disorders. Stool fat evaluation is an important screening tool in malabsorption syndromes and digestive disorders.
