Crystals in stool are identified during microscopic examination as part of routine stool analysis. They may include fatty acid crystals, Charcot–Leyden crystals, or other crystalline structures. While some crystals may be incidental findings, certain types—such as Charcot–Leyden crystals—are associated with parasitic infections or allergic intestinal conditions. Crystal identification helps in evaluating gastrointestinal inflammation, parasitic infestation, and malabsorption disorders.
