Creatinine Test checks how well your kidneys are working. Creatinine is a waste substance produced by your muscles during normal daily activity. Healthy kidneys filter this waste from the blood and remove it through urine. If the kidneys are not functioning properly, creatinine can build up in the blood.
This test is done using a small blood sample and usually does not require fasting. Doctors commonly advise this test during routine health checkups, for people with diabetes or high blood pressure, or when symptoms suggest a possible kidney problem.
