Creatinine Clearance (24-hour urine) estimates glomerular filtration rate (GFR) by measuring urine creatinine over 24 hours with a paired serum creatinine. It evaluates kidney function, stages CKD, and monitors renal impairment more accurately than serum creatinine alone.

Pre-Test Instructions:

Collect all urine over a 24-hour period, starting after discarding the first morning urine and including the next day’s first morning urine.
Store the collection container in the refrigerator (2–8°C) during collection.
Avoid strenuous exercise and excessive protein intake during the collection period.
Provide a blood sample preferably at the end of the 24-hour urine collection.
Inform your doctor about medications such as cimetidine, trimethoprim, or diuretics, which may affect results.
