Description

Copper – Serum is a blood test used to measure the level of copper in the bloodstream, an essential trace element required for iron metabolism, nervous system function, connective tissue formation, and antioxidant defense. This test is commonly used to evaluate copper deficiency or toxicity and to assist in the diagnosis and monitoring of Wilson’s disease, Menkes disease, malabsorption syndromes, chronic liver disease, and certain nutritional disorders. Results should be interpreted along with ceruloplasmin levels and clinical findings.
