Serum chloride (Cl⁻) measured by ion selective electrode (ISE) is a key electrolyte test for evaluating fluid balance, dehydration, renal function, and acid–base disorders. It helps interpret metabolic acidosis or alkalosis alongside sodium and bicarbonate, and is vital in monitoring IV saline therapy, diarrhea, vomiting, and critical care patients.
