Ceruloplasmin is a blood test used to measure the level of ceruloplasmin, a copper-carrying protein produced by the liver. This test is primarily used in the diagnosis and monitoring of Wilson’s disease, copper metabolism disorders, and certain liver diseases. Abnormal ceruloplasmin levels may also be seen in chronic liver disease, malnutrition, nephrotic syndrome, and inflammatory conditions. The test helps clinicians evaluate copper balance and liver function when interpreted alongside clinical findings and other laboratory tests.
