CEA (Carcinoembryonic Antigen) is a tumor marker blood test widely used for monitoring, prognosis, and follow-up of cancers, especially colorectal cancer. It helps assess treatment response, detect disease recurrence, and evaluate cancer progression after surgery or chemotherapy. Elevated CEA levels may also be seen in cancers of the lung, breast, pancreas, stomach, and ovary, as well as in certain non-cancerous conditions such as smoking, liver disease, and inflammation. This test is most effective when interpreted along with clinical findings, imaging studies, and other tumor markers.
