Description

Casts in stool refer to cylindrical structures composed of mucus, cellular debris, or inflammatory material observed during microscopic examination of stool samples. Their presence may indicate intestinal inflammation, infection, or irritation of the gastrointestinal tract. Stool casts are occasionally reported in severe gastrointestinal infections, inflammatory bowel disease, or mucosal injury. This parameter is evaluated as part of routine stool microscopy.
