Description

CA 15-3 is a tumor marker associated mainly with breast carcinoma. It measures circulating fragments of MUC-1 glycoprotein shed by tumor cells into the blood. It is not recommended for screening, but is very useful for monitoring treatment response, detecting recurrence, and tracking metastatic disease.
