Description

The CA 19-9 (Cancer Antigen 19-9), Body Fluid test measures the concentration of CA 19-9 in body fluids such as pleural fluid, ascitic fluid, peritoneal fluid, or other clinically indicated body fluids. It is used as an adjunctive test in the evaluation of malignant effusions and gastrointestinal or pancreatobiliary malignancies. This test may assist clinicians when interpreted alongside cytology, imaging, histopathology, and serum tumor marker results. It should not be used alone to diagnose or exclude cancer.
