Description

The CA 125 (Cancer Antigen 125) test measures the level of CA 125, a protein found on the surface of certain cells and released into the bloodstream. It is primarily used to monitor treatment response, assess disease progression, and detect recurrence in patients diagnosed with epithelial ovarian cancer. The test may also aid in evaluating a pelvic mass when interpreted together with imaging and clinical findings. However, CA 125 is not recommended as a screening test for ovarian cancer in the general population, as levels can be elevated in many benign conditions.
