BUN / Creatinine Ratio is a calculated parameter used to assess kidney function and determine the underlying cause of abnormal renal markers. It compares Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN) to serum creatinine levels and helps differentiate between prerenal, intrinsic renal, and postrenal causes of kidney dysfunction. This ratio is commonly included in Renal Function Tests (RFT) and is valuable in evaluating dehydration, acute kidney injury (AKI), chronic kidney disease (CKD), and gastrointestinal bleeding.
