A screening test used during pregnancy to detect gestational diabetes by measuring blood glucose levels one hour after consuming a glucose solution.

No fasting required for 50g GCT.
Patient must drink 50g oral glucose solution.
Blood sample collected exactly 1 hour after ingestion.
Do not eat or drink anything else during the waiting period.
Inform the clinician if the patient is taking corticosteroids or other glucose-altering medications.
Usually performed between 24–28 weeks of pregnancy.
