The Total Bilirubin Test measures the amount of bilirubin in your blood, a yellow pigment produced during the normal breakdown of red blood cells. The liver processes bilirubin and removes it from the body through bile. Elevated bilirubin levels may indicate liver disease, bile duct obstruction, hemolytic anemia, or jaundice.
This test is commonly included as part of a Liver Function Test (LFT) panel and helps evaluate liver health, diagnose liver disorders, and monitor ongoing treatment.
