Bacteria (CP0066)

Description

Bacteria in urine are detected during urine sediment microscopy and may indicate a urinary tract infection (UTI). While occasional bacteria may result from contamination during sample collection, significant bacterial presence, especially when associated with pus cells (WBCs) and positive nitrite test, strongly suggests infection. This parameter is evaluated as part of Routine Urine Examination (R/E) and may require confirmation with Urine Culture & Sensitivity.
