Description

Aspergillus Galactomannan – BAL Fluid is a diagnostic test used to detect galactomannan antigen, a component of the cell wall of Aspergillus species, in bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) fluid. This test is highly useful in the early diagnosis of invasive pulmonary aspergillosis (IPA), particularly in immunocompromised patients such as those undergoing chemotherapy, transplant recipients, or patients with prolonged neutropenia. BAL galactomannan testing improves diagnostic sensitivity compared to serum testing in suspected pulmonary infections.
