Anti-Phospholipid Antibody (IgG) ( IO0031 )

Description

Anti-Phospholipid IgG Antibodies test detects IgG autoantibodies directed against phospholipid-binding proteins and is essential in evaluating antiphospholipid syndrome (APS). These antibodies are associated with abnormal blood clotting, recurrent miscarriages, stillbirths, thrombosis, and certain autoimmune conditions such as lupus.

Measured commonly by ELISA, this test supports the diagnosis of APS when interpreted with clinical history and other markers (e.g., lupus anticoagulant, anti-cardiolipin). It is particularly valuable in patients with unexplained venous/arterial thrombosis, pregnancy losses, prolonged APTT, or suspected autoimmune disease. Serial testing (≥12 weeks apart) may be required for confirmation as per guidelines.
