Description

Anti-Phospholipase A2 Receptor Antibody (PLA2R) is a blood test used to detect autoantibodies against the PLA2R antigen, which are strongly associated with primary (idiopathic) membranous nephropathy. This test helps in diagnosis, disease activity assessment, prognostication, and monitoring response to immunosuppressive therapy. PLA2R antibody levels correlate with disease activity and can aid in distinguishing primary from secondary causes of membranous nephropathy.
