Aldosterone ( IA0008 )

Description

Aldosterone is a mineralocorticoid hormone produced by the adrenal cortex (zona glomerulosa). It regulates sodium and water retention and potassium excretion, maintaining blood pressure and electrolyte balance. Measurement is essential in evaluating hypertension, hypokalemia, and adrenal disorders.

Aldosterone measured by CLIA/ECLIA evaluates adrenal mineralocorticoid function regulating sodium, potassium, and blood pressure. It is essential in assessing hypertension, hypokalemia, and adrenal disorders, especially when interpreted with plasma renin and the aldosterone–renin ratio under standardized posture conditions.
