The Urine Protein/Creatinine Ratio (PCR) estimates daily protein excretion from a single spot urine sample and is used to diagnose and monitor proteinuria, kidney disease, and hypertensive or diabetic renal complications.

First morning urine is recommended for best accuracy.

For clinical correlation, physician may request microalbumin, 24-hour urine protein, or serum creatinine.
